Produced Water Treatment
Effluent or produced water from upstream separators and dehydrator equipment are required to be treated to meet environmental standards before disposal. The required specification usually depends on location and onshore/offshore. DOC energy designs, fabricate and supply produced water packages to meet residual oil in water content as specified by our clients.
Primary separation of produced water involves separation of residual solids from upstream vessels, and separation of residual oil content to below 500 mg/l. This separation can typically be achieved with liquid packed separators with specialty internals, and also skimmer tanks.
Secondary separation for produced water treatment will typically require equipment packages to reduce the residual oil content from primary separation to below 100 mg/l. An industry standard equipment for this application is called an Induced Gas Floation (IGF) unit. These IGF skid packages can be offered in both horizontal and vertical configurations depending on application.
Tertiary separation for produced water treatment will typically require polishing of the produced water to meet a residual oil specification of below 5 mg/l. Skidded filtration equipment like Nutshell Filters are industry tested and reliable solutions for this application.
